Nigeria: NASFAT embarks on empowerment drive, targets women

Kaduna- An lslamic organization, “NAstrul -Lahi -L- Fatih Society, NASFAT”, on Sunday distributed empowerment items worth hundreds of thousands naira to 23 to needies in kaduna state.

The items distributed members and non women members includes sewing machines, grinding engines, refrigerators, foods and drinks, bank cheques respectively, among others.

Speaking to newsmen at the end of the ceremony at NASFAT kaduna zone, the Zonal imam of NASFAT kaduna state, Muhammad Ma’aruf Muhammad Raji said the programme is an slamic gesture known as “Zakkat”.

“This is Zakkat, one of the pillar of Islams, which goes with given by wealthy among muslems to the needy, the poor, the categories of people mentioned in the holy Quaran.

“One of the key value is to see to the welfare of mankind, not only moslems members but also non Moslems.
“We have Zakkat committee entrusted in collection and distribution of of Zakkat and this is one of the event we have been doing annually for the past four years”, he said
Imam Raji also noted that “It also serves as empowerment to those that can be empowered by those empowered today.

“Part of Zakkat can be used to settle debt owed by beneficiaries, that is why you see us given cheques to some people, some beneficiaries”, he said.
In his remarks, the Kaduna Branch Chairman of NASFAT, Engr. Muhyideen Alimi Yusuf, commended Zakkat Committee for their dedication, and pledged to continue implement the programme.

He advised the beneficiaries to make good used of the items given them judiciously in other to add value and help change their lives.
“Not only by changing their financial status, they too would be able to help others who are in need”, he said.
Members of the committee of the programme also commended the body for the recognition, consideration and confidence reposed on them to serve the organization. End
