Shemies Foundation to train inmates, offset fines marks 2yrs Anniversary

..To visit 9 states with reliefs materials for prisoners, others

A Non-Governmental Organization, dedicated to bettering the lives of inmates of correctional facilities in the country and to bringing succour to less privileged children, men and women in Nigeria society, has kicked off a campaign tagged “Breaking Chains 2.0”.
The organization is also marking its second year anniversary as well as the birthday of its founder Ms Saratu Abdul and will be visiting nine correctional centres across the country namely; Lagos, Benue, Delta, Sokoto, Kebbi, FCT, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Plateau states.

The Director of Programs, Shamies Unusual Hearts Foundation, Mr Shedrach Oka who made this revelations yesterday in a chat with Journalists said the foundation would also trained imates and offset fines of those with minor cases.

Mr.Oka said that the aim of Shamies Unusual Hearts Foundation’s visit to the correctional centres was to bring hope and relief to inmates.
According to him, the Foundation “will offset fines of inmates with minor offences, train inmates with different skills and equip them with the basic skills and tools they need so that they can be fully reintegrated into the the society and become useful

Oka also said the Founder’s Day is a Legacy Project designed to communicate the ideals of Ms. Saratu Abdul to people who comes after her. According to him, the Founder’s Day project brings her life, her philosophy, and her ideology of living to the surface; thereby showcasing the perspective of what is most important about her life.

The Director of programs also revealed that to herald the second anniversary of the Foundation the management team of Unusual Hearts would visit stakeholders of correction centres and also hold consultations with organizations with the sole aim of fashioning out ways in which inmates lives can be bettered so that they don’t go back to the past when they are eventually released.

He also added that the organization is also committed to helping not only inmates but helping the less privileged in the society .

He added that the organization had involved in humanitarian services for the past two years and duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC. End
