Against the backdrop of recurring attacks and killings in Southern Kaduna of Kaduna State, the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) 19 Northern States and FCT Reverend Yakubu Pam has called on Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir el-Rufai to consider working with the security agencies to deploy more security personnel to the area.
Reverend Pam who is also the Executive Secretary (ES) Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) who made the call yesterday in Kaduna while briefing newsmen after a visit to the state Governor expressed worries with the killings in the state.
According to him, “I came to Kaduna state to talk to Kaduna state Governor Mallam Ahmad Nasir el-rufai to add more intervention on what is happening in southern part of Kaduna state, innocents people are being killed and the area needs more security presence.
“I also assured the governor that CAN will not leave him alone, because the work of peace and resolving crisis like this is not only meant for an individual or government alone but it is a work that every citizen will come together on deck and handle it together”.
He therefore appealed to CAN Kaduna state chapter to always speak out against the killings objectively “you shouldn’t speak in such a way that the unity of the state will be destroyed, you should speak frank and should be able to advice the way forward” he stressed.
“Our speaking should not just be empty and with anger but it should be the way forward, it should be what is the way forward for this crisis”.
He also appealed to Kaduna state Governor to give opportunity to people of Southern Kaduna from both side to meet, dialogue and come out with a white paper which both of them will agree on as the way forward.
Rev Pam disclosed that Governor el-rufai accepted to implement whatever will be the result of the meeting with the people of Southern Kaduna.
Rev Pam further averred that crisis in Southern Kaduna is more of an in-house problem, within those in Southern Kaduna, no much outside influence, hence it can be resolved amicably.
” We must agree to live together as brothers and sisters ” he said.
He equally called on Federal and Kaduna state government to assist the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) with relief materials. ENDS
