Nine armed Fulani men tried to attack the palace of Atyap paramount ruler, the Agwatyap, at Atak-nje, close to Zango town, but were repelled by soldiers who came to the rescue, Atyap community development Association (ACDA) has revealed.
Making the revelation in an elaborate statement issued weekend and signed by the association’s spokesman Mr. Pius Markus Kayet, stated that the armed fulani men escaped into Zango town where they have been residing, on seeing soldiers.
It added that “Youths from Atak-nje and the soldiers were able to enter the town and the soldiers arrested the 9 attackers. The police in Zonkwa and Kafanchan have this in their records.
ACDA lamented that “Atyap nation has tried to remain silent in the face of many attrocities committed against her people and it’s land recently by armed Fulani militia.
“We had decided to do so because we believe that the initiative by our traditional leadership and that of ACDA for the safety and security of our people and every other groups in Atyap land will yield positive results.
“Unfortunately, we have not only been assailed by continuous murder of our people, the destruction of our communities and foodcrops, the Hausa and Fulani who are on our land, have taken to the media to further issue lies and veiled threats against us.
“Their aim is to make us look like a notorious people who do not want peace and do not want the Fulani and Hausa in our land. We also believe that they are preparing grounds and excuses to invade our vulnerable people and carry out their usual killings and arson so that it can be tagged as “vengeance,” or “Communal clash”, ACDA stated.
“We are therefore putting it on records that should any violence happen to our community those who make the inciting false claims against us in their two separate press outings should be held responsible.
“For the avoidance of doubt, let us make it clear that the Press Statement by Zango Urban Development Association (ZUDA), signed by one Shehu Aminu Abdullahi last week is sad, unfortunate and very libelous.
“ZUDA made very provocative and unkind words against our late leader, the immediate past President of ACDA, Comrade (Dr) Silas Adamu. Comrade Adamu was a man that was dedicated to the peace, security and welbieng of everyone in Atyap Chiefdom.
“He expended his energy, time and personal resources holding several peace meetings.
“When he made the allegation that there are certain criminal persons hiding in Zangon urban, he was sending a message to all stakeholders, especially the leadership of Zangon town to look inwards and clean their house.
“That statement by Comrade Adamu, was based on the indisputable fact that 9 Fulani armed men tried attacking the palace of our paramount ruler, the Agwatyap, at Atak-nje, close to Zango town, on 1st March, 2021, but were repelled by soldiers who came to the rescue.
“The Fulani men, on seeing the soldiers, escaped into Zango town where they have been residing. Youths from Atak-nje and the soldiers were able to enter the town and the soldiers arrested the 9 attackers. The police in Zonkwa and Kafanchan have this in their records.
“There have, also been many other violent actions against Atyap Communities bordering Zango urban by armed men who always run back into Zango town.
“Therefore, the strong denial of the existence of such criminal elements in Zango town could mean that ZUDA know about them and are shielding them. Atyap nation has no other land to go to.
“Therefore, peace and progress is a matter that we have no alternative to. It is those who have other places to return to that dont bother about peace in Atyap land”, it stated.
ACDA added that “Also, on the 31st of March, 2021, the Mayetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) addressed a press conference in Kaduna under the Chairmanship of Alh. Haruna Usman Tugga, it’s secretary, Musa Muhd Gamba and it’s PRO, Ibrahim Bayero Zango.
“The Press Conference of these three men is not different from the one they held in June last year and claimed that Atyap youths killed score of Fulani and their cows without a shred of evidence.
“This was the excuse that armed Fulani militia used to carry out several attacks on Atyap land and killed nothing less than 100 persons and several Communities destroyed with their farmlands. Instead of government arresting and invistigating these MACBAN chiefs, a 24hours curfew was decalered over Atyap land for over three months. We are probably seeing a prelude to the same evil.
“Let us state categorically and clearly too that MACBAN came out with outright lies and falsehood”, they stated .End
