..Say’s 15 Atyap youths in detention, no single Fulani arrested

The controversy surrounding the denial of killing of innocent woman during protest in Atyap Chiefdom in Zango Kataf local government area of Kaduna state has again been resolved.
Making the clarification in a statement issued by Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA) on Saturday, the affected community said soldiers killed one Mrs Noami John and wounded three other women including a passerby elderly man.
The statement issued and signed by the ACDA National Public Relations officer, Mr. Pius Markus Kayet, stated that security agents deployed in the communities used brute force in the arrest of indigenes suspected to be involved in self defence, an actions that traumatized their people most especially the women and children.
“What happened was that Atyap women got fed up with constant arbitrary arrests of their children by soldiers in the guise of looking for “trouble makers”, while the Killers are moving around with their cattle unchallenged.
“Instead of listening to the complaints of the women, the soldiers reacted which led to the killing of Mrs. Noami John and fatally wounding three other women including an elderly man who was a passerby.
This, ACDA stressed, has nothing to with the allegation of killings of ardos, challenging the fulani body, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), to show evidence of where the said ardos were killed, saying that anytime “they are planning evil they make such wild and spurious claims.
“We want to call the attention of the world to restrain security agents deployed in the communities from the the use of brute force in the arrest of those suspected to be involved in self defence. These actions traumatizes our people most especially the women and children.
MACBAN, accordingt to ACDA also made shocking allegations that Atyap youths killed 300 cows, arguing that such incidents could not had happened without and epidemic break out
“For the avoidance of doubt, there is no way that such a large number of cattle, sheep and goats would be killed that ACDA would not have heard of. Again, this is another fabrication with the intention of evil”, it stated.
ACDA however alleged that one of their person was killed in matyai, in a village closed to Zango kataf in March 2021, and his motorcycle stolen by fulani militia and several others.
“On our part, we want to report the murder of Jacob Achi of matyai village, close to Zangon Kataf on the 15th March, 2021. His motorcycle was also stolen by the Fulani militia.
“Again, Paul Daru of Yagbak village killed by Fulani herdsmen on the 24th March, 2021 on the same spot that Achi was killed.
“The same evil people killed Emma Takai from Takanai village on the 18th March 2021 by armed herdsmen along Chikakai road near Zangon Kataf.
“Jerry Badau from Gan village was also killed on his farm by herdsmen on the 18th March, 2021”, they stated.
The Fulani, ACDA noted, have a habit of grazing deliberately on Atyap farmlands and crops, leaving them with heavy loses which have been severally reported to the security agents with no restraint from the herdsmen and their cattle.
“It is also very unfortunate that the Fulani still carry their weapons with impunity despite an agreement reached between them and Atyap natives not to do so.
“They lamented that 15 of their youths are currently under police detention in kafanchan, under inhuman condition and tortured while no single fulani person is being interrogated despite the attacks and killings perpetrated by them.
“Today, there are 15 Atyap youths under the detention of the police after they were tricked into attending a meeting with the the security agents. They have been turtured and are kept under sub-human conditions in Kafanchan Police Station for the past three days.
“It is surprising that not a single Fulani person is under any interrogation, talk less of detention despite having their hands soil in blood.
“ACDA demands for their immediate release or they should be charged to court.
Atny”However, we are calling on our youths to be law abiding and avoid taking the laws in their hands. They should cooperate with the military and all security agents stationed on Atyap land and pass to them important information that may have”, ACDA stated.
