The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, (FCC), Hajia Dr Muheeba Dankaka, OON , has said that the external threat indoctrination that is giving Islam a bad name must be countered and confronted.
Dr Dankaka who was in Kaduna, Sunday, where she officially commissioned the Administrative and Media Center Building of the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society, (NASFAT), said, “The external threat of indoctrination that is giving Islam a bad name must be countered and confronted so as to safeguard the religion through disemination of true Islamic religion.
“I will charge the managers and operators of the Media Center and all Imams and Misssioners to rededicate themselves in the service of Islam. The sermons by Imams should focus on true teachings of Islam while the Media Center should be the Central guide of all Muslims broadcast of NASFAT related activities in the zone to ensure that contents for broadcast are verified and made available across the zone.
Dr Dankaka who said she was highly delighted to be among brothers and sisters in Islam for the commissioning of an Administrative and Media center blocks of the prestigious Mosque, said, “the idea of building an Administrative Block and Media center attached to a Mosque is primarily to enhance the day-to-day administration of the mosque, its allied duties and furthering the propagation of Islam through media. I am happy that what seems to be a dream has become a reality.”
“NASFAT have been at the forefront and a formidable Muslim Association in the vanguard of Islamic values and propagation of Islamic religion.
“This event is happening in the holy month of Ramadan. A month that provides Islam an opportunity to be near to their creator through supplications, abstinance, and perseverance.
“This is also a month that defies our act of kindness, charity and generosity to the less priveleged and the needy in the society. I therefore call on all Muslims Umma to redouble their efforts in feeding and taking care of the vulnerable of the society who are in need. This Sadakatul is an act of Ibadat that nourishes the Muslims both here and the hereafter.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the Kaduna branch, Engineer Muhyideen Alimi Yusuf, said the formal commissioning of the NASFAT Kaduna Administrative and Media center marks a milestone in the anal of the history of the Kaduna branch adding that the need to build the edifice was necessitated by numerous challenges.
He said, prior to the relocation of the NASFAT Kaduna Central Mosque to the present site, the branch had to borrow the use of several mosques in order to carry out her weekly activities between 2003 and 2005. The chairman poured encomiums on the Chief Executive Officer, (CEO), of Newage Network Communications, Alhaji Ibrahim Buba for his magnanimity to offer the branch free media production services, during the month of Ramadan, “which otherwise would have cost the branch a lot of money to achieve.”
Engr Yusuf further said, the activities of the of the society goes beyond Ramadan and the need to domicile media production in-house became imperative. “Some of the challenges that necessitated the building of a media centre include, high cost of logistics of production within and outside the NASFAT village,; lack of archives to keep media records; the need to improve media in-house media contents in quality and quantity as well as the need for in-house production on the part of participants.
The chairman who put the cost of construction/furnishing of the Administrative and Media Center at about N15 million, said “yet we have not reached our main goal of the Media Center because we are yet to equip the Center.
He said, “Our dream is to have a fully equipped and functional studio in which high definition and quality media contents and at least a radio broadcast can be achieved. As at today, the Media Center is partly equipped with camera/ accessories and workstation tables and chairs. We have a long way to go in this task and I urge members not to relent in their efforts to realize this noble objectives.
Engr Yusuf thanked the President of NASFAT Worldwide Alhaji Abdul Mumin Niyi Yusuf who lent his full support to the project, saying that so far, only Ibadan and Kaduna has Initiated this idea.
“Infact, NASFAT Ibadan has commenced full broadcast which was started a few days ago with a maiden speech by the President. The President told me that the headquarters has established a media company and it is hoped that when fully operational, branches of local broadcast stations will be able to hook up and air headquarters programmes in their various localities.”
He further assured that investment in the media production and broadcast by NASFAT is a right step in the right direction with such advantages as great minimal cost of production, direct income generation with a view of capturing the existing market in which other organizations can produce their contents and air the at NASFAT Media Center, and in view of NASFAT reputable name and membership, advert placement from corporate Organisations can be annexed
Other advantages, he said, include employment generation, preaching of true Islamic values, peace and unity, even as its voice and activities could be continuously heard.
