Committee on Army, Minister and Army has resolved grey areas.- Sen Ali Ndume

Chairman Senate Committee on Army, Senator Muhammad Ali Ndume has revealed that his committee, the ministry of finance and the officials of the Army High Command has resolved to sit down together and come up with all the financial cost that the Armed Forces, most especially the Nigerian Army would require to purchase sophisticated weapons in order to put an end to the current insecurity bedeviling the Nation.

The Senator who spoke to journalists in his office after plenary also said that the Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmad finally honoured the Committee’s invitation, apologized and that the Committee and the Minister went into frank discussion about the disagreement between the Army and the Ministry.

He also said that the discourse had led to resolving most of the grey areas.

He further revealed that outcomes of the meeting between the Committee, Army officials and Minister of Finance would form the basis the supplementary budget which all the needed monies would be released to the Army 

The Lawmaker also assured Nigerians that with the resolution of the committee, the Finance Ministry and the Army High Command, there is a light in the tunnel and that insecurity would soon be a thing of the past.

Answering question on why Nigerian Army personnel are using obsolete weapons such as AK 47  in spite of the huge amount of budgetary allocation, the Borno North Senator explained that the I despite the huge amount of capital, inflation, overhead costs such as feeding, logistics and  and exchange rate are some of the reasons why the monies are not enough.

He assured that in the supplementary budget all this would be adequately taken care of.
