Tension has continue to rise steadily in Ufia community in Ado local government area of Benue state following the alleged killing of a young Fulani person made against the people of Ojijje, by a Fulani leader in Benue state.
A statement issued and signed by the National president of Ufia Development Associatio (UDA), Chief Vincent Uoko, and made available to our correspondent however denied the alleged killing of the Fulani youth by Ojije people.
“UDA said “it’s attention has been drawn to a report credited to the leader of Fulani people in Benue state, Alhaji Ardo Riski, alleging that Ojije people of Ufia are behind the alleged killing of a Fulani youth.
UDA in a statement signed by it’s national president, Chief Vincent Uloko, “vehemently denied the allegation and implored the Fulani leader to channel any issue involving Ufia people to it’s national executive for possible redress, rather than rush to the media to create tension and disharmony.
The association noted that the chairman of Ado local government area had earlier issued a statement which exonerated Ojije people from the incident, stressing that the entire Ufia land had been under siege of attacks, destruction of farmlands and kidnappings, “yet the people never sought revenge nor taken laws into their hands, rather the incidents were reported to law enforcement agencies and the government.
It therefore wondered why the Fulani leader in Benue state made such unsubstantiated claims, which UDA says should be disregarded, as there was no suck killing in Ufia land.
The Association therefore called on the Fulani leader to prevail on his subjects to conduct their activities without threatening the lives and livelihoods of it’s people, as well as obey the laws of the land.
Recalled that suspected Fulani militia allegedly massacre several people in Agatu in same Benue zone three last Sunday.
