Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force have fired teargas canisters at protesters in Lagos and Abuja in a bid to disperse them.
In Lagos, protesters could been seen as early as 8 am trooping out on the streets catching others who have come for their normal business by surprise. However, the protesters were peaceful in their till the police started shooting teargas at them.
Some of the protesters were arrested and bundled into waiting police vans but were later released
And in Abuja, protesters were sighted carrying banners , chanting “Buhari must go” “free El Zakzaky”, “Say no to insecurity”.
Sirens of police vehicles could be heard as plume of smoke enveloped the Ojota areas while people ran helter-skelter for safety .
The protesters were led by Deji Adeyanju who addressed the crowd by urging Nigerians to come out and fight for their rights .
Just like it happened in Lagos, security personnel also appeared on the scene and teargassed protesters in a bid to clear them off the streets .
