It was a blistering pomp and pageantry as Pacesetters Schools Abuja celebrated their annual graduation ceremony at the prestigious International Conference Center. The main hall of the conference was filled to overflow as dignitories and parents from all parts of the nation graced the occasion. Among the dignitories were the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, Senator Matthew Urhoghide; senator representing Edo State South Senatorial District, with his wife, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili; former vice president of the World Bank (African Region), co-founder and founding director of Transparency International, former Minister of Solid Minerals and former Minister of Education, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, economist and politician, the founder and Pro-chancellor of the Baze University, Abuja, Senator Victor Kassim Oyiofo, Bar. Mike Ozekhome, Lawan Daura, former DSS boss, Mrs Enebi, Colonel Bako, Siriki Hurunmi of Adamawa, Alh. Aminu Abdulkadir, and other notable personalities.
The Chairman of the Pacesetters Schools, Bar. Ken Imansuangbon, with his amiable wife and Director of the school, Mrs. Kate Imansuangbon, were on hands to welcome dignitories and parents.
PACESETTERS’ school was founded on the 9th of September, 2002 by Barr. Kenneth Imansuangbon and Mrs Kate Imansuangbon as a co-educational international institution. The school campuses are located in four prime areas in Abuja:
Pacesetters’ School Wuse (Academy) – Plot 50 Lome Crescent, Zone 7, Wuse Abuja.
Pacesetters’ School Wuye (College) – Plot 136 Wuye, Abuja.
Pacesetters’ School Gwarinpa (Academy and College) – .Ministry of Works and housing Quarters, by Setraco Bus Stop Gwarinpa, Phase II Gwarinpa, Abuja.
Pacesetters’ School Guzape (Academy and College) – Plot No. 37 Aliu Modibo Street, Asokoro Extension, Guzape District Abuja.
During the graduation ceremony, dignitories were entertained by the students to different forms of cultural display which were part exhibitions of the standard of the schools. In his speech, His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki, thanked the Chairman and the Director for their works in the educational sector. “I want to thank the propietors of Pacesetters Schools for the work you both have been doing for the past 20 years, you are indeed pacesetters. With the class you are graduating today, which represents the quality and standard of your school, it says a lot about the work you have been doing for the last two decades and it is left for us who are in government to take it up from there.” He opined that these types of children abound in all parts of the country and that politicians cannot afford to fail them. He added that Edo State under his watch has proven that it is possible to expand access and improve quality of education.
In his speech, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed said, “If we run the educational sector through all level as we have seen with Pacesetters Schools, expecially the cultural displays, we are certainly going to be at per with other schools around the world. There won’t be need for us to be taking our wards abroad for education that schools like this can afford.”
Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili was not to be left out in praising the standard of Pacesetters Schools. “The standard of students Pacesetters has graduated today will define what the new normal truly is. And it will be consistent with the naming of the school as Pacesetters.”
The ceremony came to an expected end after certificates where awarded to the graduands.
