Maulud: Christian clerics felicitate with Nigerian Muslims

Pastor Yohanna Buru, the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry Sabon Tasha Kaduna, felicitates with Muslims World Wide on the occasion of Maulud celebration which mark the birth of the prophet Mohammed. Buru tasked Muslims to used the occasion to pray for peace, stability and unity in Nigeria.

The cleric said he has sent hundreds of SMS to his Muslims friends both in Nigeria and abroad. He expressed desire for strong Christian and Muslim relationships based on understanding and mutual support in Nigeria. For the cleric, this occasion came at an appropriate time when there is an urgent need for promotion of peaceful coexistence and inter-religious tolerance in Nigeria. He assured he was not alone in the efforts to wish Muslims happy celebration as there are countless other Christian clerics across northern states celebrating with the Muslims.

According to Buru, “last year, I attended many Maulud celebrations with other Christian clerics to strengthen good relationship with our Muslim brothers”.
stressing that celebrating the birthday of prophet mohammed goes beyoung muslims alone.
“Simply the prophet is every one irrespective of tribe,culture,color,continent and region, as he preached peace, love, unity and tolerance throughout his life.”

The cleric noted that he has congratulated Sheik Dahiru Bauchi, Sheik Ibrahim Yakub Elzazzaky and the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad III, respectively for the Maulud. The Christian cleric said, every year hundreds of Muslims do visit him at his home to celebrate Christmas the birth of Jesus Christ. He noted that for many years, he has been celebrating the birth of the Jesus Christ at his Church for the purposes of strengthening Christian| Muslims relation and to foster peace and unity among Nigerians.

The Pastor disclosed that he had read many books about the Holy Prophet on the various roles he played in promoting peaceful coexistence among different faiths and his exemplary religious tolerance. Similarly, Pastor Paul John called on Muslims to used the occasions in uniting the nation. He said, “many Muslims join us every year during Christmas services to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. “We congratulate Muslims all over the world and wished them all the best. “We want them to used the holiday toward praying for justice, peace and stability in Nigeria.

Additionally Pastor Joel Zigo from Southern Kaduna says “we are one family under God, therefore, “we must live together in peace with one another to make Nigeria great.” He then called on Imams and Pastors to continued pray for Nigerian military on peace missions so that Almighty God may grant them successes in their legitimate operations.

He equally called on States and Federal Government to bring an end to the security challenges bedeviling the country. In his reaction, Pastor Joshua Ahmed stressed the need for Muslims and Christians to keep praying to Almighty God to bring an end to Covid 19 and general insecurity challenges bedeviling Nigeria. Ahmed said he always participated in Maulud celebration to strengthen Christian-Muslim relations in Kaduna and other neighbouring states.

As the harmattan season approaches, he called on wealthy individuals and organisations to support the needy, and provide food and clothing to orphanage homes, as the harmattan season begins. “We congratulate Muslims all over the world as they celebrate Maulud. We wish you joy and happiness as you celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet,’ he added.
