A resident of Kaduna has cried out over what he described as illegal demolition of his house and properties by Kaduna State Planning Urban Development Authority (KASUPDA).
The victim Mr Francis Ebute also accused the Authority of bribery and corruption, incompetence and misused of power and instrument of justice, saying the shocking trurmatized and knock him down with sickness.
Narrating his ordeals to journalsts in tears Mr. Ebute said his residence located at No.9 DBN road Ungwan Boro, Sabon Tasha, in Chikun local government area of the State was the only one demolished.
He lamented that the Manager of KADSUPDA Kaduna South District, Sabon Tasha, Mr Stephen Bagi, was responsible for the illegal demolition of his house.
The victim also said he wrote several letter of petition to the Director General, DG, KADSUPDA, against Stephen Bagi and through the Deputy Director, popularly known as DDC Bello Ahmed but no action was taken.
According to Ebute, one Mr Francis Olowosolulu who’s share plot of land with him encroached on part of his undeveloped land he acquired many years ago in which the matter was reported the KASUPDA, but expressed dismay that the Authority supported him even when they knew that the disputed area belong him.
In two separate letters of petition on bribery and corruption witten against the staff made available to our correspondent, the victims complained that desbpite several petitions and reminder, the DG could not summon the accused, describing it as executive intimidation, oppression, nepotism, absolute corruption and display of power.
The letter dated 10th September 2021 stated that ” please sir, it’s over a year i petition the Manager KADSUPDA Kaduna South District Sabon Tasha, Mr. Stephen Bagi but the DDC Bello .A vehemently refused to act on what DG minuted to him.
“It’s pertinent to address this as executive intimidation, aiding and abetting oppression, absolute corruption, nepotism and display of power”, it stated.
The victim further stated that he had informed DDC Ahmed to ensure that planting of crops illegally authorized by Mr Bagi on his land be given 21 days or be cut down, but failed.
Mr. Ebute said he applied to KADSUPDA Officials and reminded them through the Personal Assistant on many occasions to come and carryout professional measurement of the land but expressed dismay that none came till date.
When contacted and sought to know if the said demolition was done in consent of the company, the spokesman of KADSUPDA Nuhu Umar demanded to know if the victim has certificate of occupancy and building permit, adding that when he bring his documents he’ll to able know the reason his house was removed.
“Let him bring his documents and see why it was removed. In fact, built without planning permission is against the law , he said.
But Ebute lamented that his has all the necessary papers domiciled with the DDC Ahmed at KADSUPDA head office Kaduna before Mr Bagi came with Bulldozer on 26th September 2021, by 5pm, and pulled down the building containing his wife and children and all the content.
Some of the properties destroyed in the House are fridge, chairs, pots among other essential domestic items, even as the victim said he has no money to take government to court, when asked on what would be his next step.
