Patron of El-Amin Polo Team, Mohammed Babangida has cleared the air on why he was absent during the opening match for the Georgian Cup at the ongoing 2021 Kaduna International Polo Tournament.
Babangida, whose team, Kaduna El-Amin lost narrowly 6-7 to New comers, Badako Zaz said that it was wisdom deployed by his team to field a player with lower handicap to allow the game flow.
He expressed this, in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Wednesday night.
“Yes I was not featured for El-Amin because if I did, we would have a total handicap of +19 in our team so I allowed a player with lower handicap replace me,” he disclosed.
His disclosure has laid to rest, speculations from some quarters on why he was absent from the field of play, in spite of the importance of the match.
Following his team’s loss, they will now play winners of the match between Guards Brigade Rubicon and Malcomines, which was also decided on Tuesday.
From the schedule of play sighted by our correspondent, El-Amin will be squaring up against Rubicon on Friday at the Ahmadu Yakubu Polo Ground, in a match, which is expected to be explosive.
Rubicon had beaten Malcomines, while El-Amin fell to Badako Zaz on Tuesday.
