In a last ditch effort to purge his conscience after sudden defection to All Progressives Congress (APC), Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke has sent a passionate plea to his boss and Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokuodike) asking for forgiveness for abandoning him, promising that he will vote for All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Gubernatorial candidate, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

The Deputy Governor whose defection has been described as the ultimate back stab and one of greatest political betrayals in the history of Anambra State reportedly sent the apology in a confidential mail to Governor Obiano late yesterday.

Details of contents are still sketchy but our reporter gathered that the Deputy Governor told Governor Obiano that he actually does not have anything against him and that his action purely an act of self preservation.

In his words: ” My boss, Akpokuodike! I am sorry for betraying you. I have confessed severally in private because you were good to me. I cannot deny it. Even if I forget everything, I cannot forget what you did for me to bury my father. I just wanted to join them to secure Federal appointment after our tenure but it was Andy that deceived me that I must do it now or it is over. Rest assured that I will vote the best man, Soludo for the good of our state.”

Nkem Okeke reportedly defected from APGA leading to insinuations about his treatment under Obiano but information available showed that he was getting between N10m to N20m monthly for his office among other benefits. Following this leak, our reporter made strenuous effort to reach Obiano or his team to get official confirmation of this latest development but was not successful.
