The former Kaduna state Council Chairman Comrade Adamu Yusuf and his Vice comarde Mohammed Sabiu have commenced moves to reconcile aggrieved members of the union after a prolonged disagreement arising from the State Council elections in 2021.
The duo who were at the State Council Secretariat in the early hours of Thursday have both stressed the needs for members to come together and chat the way forward for peaceful co-existence.
The Chairman who expressed regret over the intra-union squabble promised to ensured amicable resolution of all aggrieved colleagues.
“We have faced each other in court but now peace is needed, we must come together as one union. I have no other place than NUJ. Anything outside peace I won’t be part of it. I identify with Asma’u led Exco, my loyalty lies in them. The Majority belongs here and I have full confidence in the union”, he empathized.
The chairman who also promised to head the reconciliation process said, “as it is now, I need one strong and indivisible NUJ, all camps must desist from any provocative comments and put all differences away in the interest of the union.”
Responding, the Kaduna Council Chairman Hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu appreciated the immediate past NUJ Council Chairman Adamu Yusuf for the steps taken towards peaceful resolution of the union members.
Asma’u who’s committed to the peace process called on all the member’s support for the former Chairman to succeed in the peace initiative.
Also speaking at the reconciliation meeting, the former Vice Chairman Alhaji Mohammed Sabiu said “there’s light at the end of the tunnel, adding, “l have been in this union for 27 years. I studied peace up to masters level. I started from Kaduna when I was young and now back in Kaduna in old age and I can’t watch when there is no harmony”, urging colleagues support the initiative for unity and peace of the Union.
At the meeting, include all members of the Nuj new executive, Mr Illiya Kure and others, highly welcome the initiative and thanked the chairman for his courage.
