Following the signing of the new Electoral Act into Law 2022, by the the president Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, 25 February,2022.
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has adjusted the 2023 general election timetable earlier released in 2021.
According to the commission, the new timetable, the Presidential and National Assembly election will now hold on February 25, 2023
Recalled that, the commission had earlier announced that February 18, 2023 for the presidential election.
The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, announced this to newsmen on Saturday, said, the new dates has been fixed for the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.
According to him, Presidential and National Assembly elections have been slated for February 25, 2023 while governorship and state assembly elections will now be held on March 11, 2023.
He stated that, the Presidential campaigns to kick off on Wednesday 28th of September 2022, and Governorship campaigns to kick off on Wednesday 12th October 2022.
Yakubu added that 23rd of Februrary, 2023, is the last day of campaign for the Presidential campaigns while 9th of March 2023 last day of campaign for the governorship elections respectively.
