The Chief Shepherd of the Catholic of Kano, Most Rev Dr. John Namaja Niyiring has hailed lay Catholics for withering the storms of the time to support the spread of the Good News of Jesus. This took place at the 2022 Chrism Mass for the Catholic Diocese which took place in Christ the King Catholic Cathedral (CKCC), Sabon Gari Zaria on Monday, 11th April 2022.
His Lordship celebrated the Mass on behalf of the Catholic Bishop of Zaria, Most Rev Dr. George Jonathan Dodo who was unavoidably absent at the Mass when he remarked that the faithful beat all odds to do what they do for the Church.
‘We thank you the laity.” Bishop Niyiring acknowledged. “Some of you sacrifice so much to promote the Gospel of Christ in various ways. You have children to feed. You sometimes have sick parents to take care of or relatives to feed and so on. So the problems are so many, yet you are here making your contributions. When we have projects, we call on you and you come and help out. Thank you for your sacrifices. May God keep you well. We pray that as we celebrate this Chrism Mass, everything will be well this year. May we celebrate this Easter in peace.”
On his part, the Procurator of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Very Rev Fr. Mike Kargarko thanked the officiating prelate on behalf of Bishop Dodo and the entire clergy, religious and lay faithful of the diocese for the sacrifice of officiating at the Mass. He equally appreciated the flock for supporting their Local Ordinary’s ongoing hospital project and prayed God’s abundant blessings on them all.
