The Chief Servant of the Association of Catholic Trained Evangelizers of Nigeria (ACTEN) of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Evang. Eno Addai has tasked women who face domestic violence to uncork the lid so that they do not suffocate in their bottles. She gave this task in the parish as the Speaker at the pre-Mothering Sunday program for Catholic mothers on Saturday, 16th April 2022.
The speaker spoke on the topic ‘Catholic Women as the Heart of the Homes,’ and intimated that no human being functions well without a healthy heart. She reacted to the trending news on the demise of the popular Gospel Singer, Mrs. Osinachi Nwachukwu who allegedly died as a result of domestic violence and nudged victims of similar circumstance to seek the much needed help while the sun still shines.
“We don’t want anybody to die as a result of domestic violence.” Evang Addai announcedd. “Nobody has the right to beat a woman. Recently, five women have lost their lives because of this and these are only reported cases. There were others who were killed and nobody knows the cause of their deaths. Your wife will submit automatically if you love her. Issues can be addressed through communication.”
“The Catholic Church has a way of dealing with these issues. Speak up if you are facing domestic violence! We do a lot of cover ups and it cannot help us. Talk to somebody who knows God. Please, seek the help of a priest.”
She further cautioned participants against actions that may prompt violence tasking them not to wag their tongues when their husbands are angry so as not to fuel impending disaster.
