Kaduna Carnival 2022: Peace, Unity as Panacea to Nation Building -Global Peace

In a quest to seek for a lasting solutions and sustain peace and unity in Kaduna State, Hayin-Banki Community has partnered with Global Peace Foundation Nigeria (GPFN) to organized a cultural carnival to further strengthen peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationship between different people to see themselves as one big family under God.

The program had in attendance men from all walks of life including traditional rulers, both religious groups, different ethnicity and cultural dance display and featuring sporting activities.

Speaking at the event, the country’s Director, Global Peace Foundation (GPFN), Rev. Dr. Joseph John Hayap said one of the Cardinal points of GPFN is interfaith collaboration and leadership to birth understanding using religious leaders’ influence to speak to their congregants on the need for Unity and understanding.

Hayab stated that peace and unity is bedrock for a nation building in a community, where crime rate, violence and other security challenges will reduce drastically. saying that we are better living together as one big family to poster peace and unity which the panacea of any develop in a society.

” There will not be meaningful develop in any community, State and Nation where peace and unity is not given play ground, rather people will sees themselves as enemies not brothers”

In his remarks, Hayap urged the people of Hayin banki to be a good example of peaceful coexistence, noted that sustainable development cannot be achieved in a crisis prone society.

“One of the Cardinal points of GPFN is interfaith collaboration and Leadership to birth understanding using religious leaders’ influence to speak to their congregants on the need for Unity and understanding. There was a carnival last year during Christmas celebration, now this is Sallah and there is another carnival. Those in attendance during the last event can testify that today’s attendance is much compare to the last time. This is what we want to achieve; a platform where people regardless of their differences come together in Unity, Love and Understanding as one family under God. He said.

The peace ambassador also charged community to take cognisance of areas they can impact their society positively in the area of sociocultural responsibilities, noted that the government cannot do everything for them but to see ways to support community in promoting peace.

“There are so many things the people of this Community can do to promote peace among themselves rather than waiting for the government. The Government can not do everything for us because they are confronted by so many other things, ranging from insecurity, Economy among others.

The Youth Leader, Wakili Matasa Hanyin Banki, Yusuf Tanko who organized the program said, the aim of the program is bring youths together by preaching peace to them and to sees each other as brother and sister irrespective of religion,tribes and ethnicity

Tanko stated that he has spent close to a million naira to ensure that the program is a success, saying that such event bring the youths together and unite them to poster peace in the community. While calling on the youths to be good ambassadors of Peace in their respective locals.

Some of the participants who applauded the event includes Mrs. Amua Imber, who is a Lecturer with the Federal College of Education, Zaria, Dr. Ismaili Zailani Abubukar of Kaduna Polytechnic, The Kaduna State Coordinator, Hope for mentally illpersies, Saliu Yuguda, among others saying kind should replicated in other communities to promote peaceful coexistence.

Other highlights of the event are cultural dance display by different groups, March pass parade by Boy’s Brigade, Jama’atu Islam and presentation of trophy, medals to winning teams of the sport competition.
