Following the demise of the pioneer Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Most Rev Dr. George Jonathan Dodo on Friday, 8th July, 2022, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kaduna Ecclesiastical Province, the Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Man’oso Ndagoso has on Saturday, 9th July, 2022 announced Very Rev. Fr. Michael Kagarko Pius as the new Diocesan Administrator of Zaria Diocese.

This was disclosed through a letter addressed to the clergy as written by the Diocesan Vice Chancellor, Rev Fr. Abraham Bisan Nake which read in part, ‘I have been directed by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kaduna, the Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Man’oso Ndagoso to announce to you that our new Diocesan Administrator is VERY REV FR. MICHAEL KAGARKO PIUS.

Following this development, the pastoral and administrative life of the Church in Zaria Diocese falls on his shoulder. In all the masses celebrated in the diocese, his name ipso facto should be mentioned.”

Furthermore, the offices of the Diocesan Procurator and the Director of the Pastoral Centre both of which were occupied by Fr. Kagarko before the announcement have been assigned to Rev Fr. Danlami Ezekiel Tijjani and Rev Fr. Christopher James respectively.
