South-South Impressed With APC, Betta Edu, Sultan Boasts

A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Honourable Haruna Abdulazeez Sultan has said that the South-South geo-political zone of the country is pleased with the engagement and successes recorded by the ruling APC in the zone, adding that the emergence of the National Women Leader, Dr. Betta Edu, is a proof for this claim.

Sultan stated this during the National Women Leader, Edu’s home-coming visit to Adadama, Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State over the weekend.

He stressed that the large turnout of party stalwarts to grace the occasion has affirmed the acceptability of APC in the region.

Sultan maintained that the APC is a party to beat in Cross River, since the Executive Governor of the State, Dr. Ben Ayade joined the ruling party APC.

 “Politics is local, Dr Betta Edu is a prestigious daughter of the soil, a jewel, astute grassroots politician and mobilizer. She knows the game and she has been very consistent in the quest for emancipation of the people especially at the grassroots.

“The massive crowd of supporters and well-wishers, who welcome her back home has ascertained the love the people has for the APC and their daughter, Edu. This is to celebrate the APC engine room, a national unifier who is love passionately and in whom the people are well pleased.” Sultan said.

The crowd which covered thousands of meters leading towards venue, tirelessly shouted her praise and applauding her for being a mother to all.

The dignitaries took turns in showering encomiums on Dr. Betta Edu, whose giant strides is being felt across the Nation. Edu was also commended her putting the communities and the entire Cross-River state on a pedestal across Nigeria through her humane outreaches and prompt attendance to issues concerning women within and outside the party.

Sultan promised the South-South of the continuous support and development by the ruling party, APC, saying, “We are impressed with the love and determination to ensure that APC emerge victorious in all the contests during the coming general elections next year. 

In attendance was the deputy governor of the State, Prof. Ivara Osu representing the Governor of Cross River State, members of the State Executive Council, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng J. Williams, APC State Chairman, Barrister Alphonso Ogar, Chairman, Abi Local Government Area, Farathor Robinson Riman, Executive council members of Abi LGA, Traditional ruler of Adadama, HRM. Eval Solomon Osim Edward and a host of other dignitaries were present.

The event ended at its crescendo when twenty-two thousand members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decamped to the APC, citing non-progressive politics of the PDP as an albatross they are no longer willing to carry, hence burning their umbrellas to take up brooms with which they are ready to sweep out everything PDP from the state.
