President of Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Region II, Hon. Engr. Ibrahim Shehu Gusau has congratulated Nigerian athletes, Tobi Amusan and Ese Brume for winning gold and silver medals respectively in the ongoing World Athletics Competition.
Gusau, while expressing joy at the rare feats attained by the two Nigerians, Amusan who won gold in 100 meters hurdle and Brume who won silver medal in Long Jump, said the achievements of the athletes would remain indelible in the sand of history.
Gusau, eulogized dexterity, patriotism and high sense of commitments of the two Nigerian athletes, saying the Sports federation and the country at large would relish the pride done their fatherland by the latest sports sensations in the World.
” I must assure these two patriots that their efforts will not go in vain and would be appreciated by good and patriotic Nigerians who feel strongly about our dear country.
” I must convey our sincere appreciation and gratitude to them for making us proud and raising our shoulders high in the Athletic community.
” Our country is now mentioned on global stage with good reason despite the challenges of governance experienced across the nation.
” We must acknowledge that the triumph recorded by these two patriots was not gotten at a platter of gold.
” It was achieved through a long time practice, commitment, zeal and passion for what they believed, they worked towards it and today we all have a reason to rejoice, ” he said.
