₹54,908.22-crore projects proposed at Invest Kerala enter implementation phase in a year: Minister

Date:

Industrial projects to the tune of ₹54,908.22 crore, proposed at the Invest Kerala Global Summit (IKGS) organised by the State government in 2025, have moved into the implementation phase, Industries Minister P. Rajeeve has said.

It came to over 40% of the Expressions of Interests (EoIs) received at the IKGS with readily available land, the Minister said, briefing media on the status of the investment proposals and the follow-up actions taken on the first anniversary of the summit in Kochi on Friday.

The summit had received Eols to the tune of ₹1,81,209 crore from 449 investors. The proposals included 285 projects with land availability. Of these, 115 projects had already begun construction or started operations, generating 66,073 employment opportunities. The projects were in sectors including tourism, food processing, information technology, pharmaceuticals, Ayurveda, wellness, and health care, which were among the 22 priority areas the government had focussed on, the Minister said.

Mr. Rajeeve said the IKGS was planned meticulously keeping in mind why similar summits held earlier failed to attract investments as expected. “The government is now concentrating on ensuring time-bound implementation of the committed investments. Projects have been categorised based on investment value, with systematic follow-up carried out through the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, and KINFRA. Investments up to ₹100 crore are monitored by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, while projects above ₹100 crore are overseen by the KSIDC. A dedicated mechanism has also been established to expedite clearances and conduct periodic project reviews,” he said.

He said with the State government approving a new IT policy which allowed setting up of private IT parks with the same status as those in the public sector, investment proposals in the sector could be realised faster.
