Cinematography by Hoyte van Hoytema, who bagged an Oscar for Oppenheimer (2023), is top-notch and the music by Ludwig Göransson, who won an Oscar for Sinners, is captivating.Ultimately, The Odyssey feels like the culmination of Nolan’s lifelong pursuit — an epic homecoming — till he finds the next grand adventure to undertake.

Matt Damon’s performance is far from heroic but shows the emotions of a battered man who is perfectly imperfect and a deeply flawed husband and father struggling to survive as he fights to return to the family he left behind. The Odyssey makes us believe yet again that cinema isn’t defined by technology; it is driven by the creative process, and no filmmaker embodies that idea better than Christopher Nolan.
