Director General of Telangana Fire Services Vikram Singh Mann on Thursday reviewed the department’s preparedness for the ongoing monsoon season and directed officials across the State to remain on high alert in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall.
During a video conference with District Fire Officers, Assistant District Fire Officers and Station Fire Officers from all 33 districts, Mr. Mann assessed the operational readiness of rescue teams, boats, dewatering pumps, communication systems and other emergency response equipment, with particular emphasis on districts likely to receive heavy rain.
He instructed officers to ensure that all fire stations and rescue teams were prepared for immediate deployment and that all rescue equipment remained in working condition to enable a swift response to rain-related emergencies.
The Director General said the lessons learnt from the two State-level mock drills on flood preparedness should be effectively incorporated to strengthen disaster response and improve coordination among departments.
He also stressed the need for close coordination with the district administration, police, revenue, municipal authorities, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other line departments to ensure a prompt and coordinated response during emergencies.
The DG urged officers to closely monitor the weather situation and take all necessary measures to safeguard life and property during the ongoing monsoon season.
