Apple is currently in beta testing iOS 26.4 like the next big iPhone update, but for 9 in 5 Mac’s visitor logs, it appears that a smaller version of the software will be launched first: iOS 26.3.1 is coming soon.
iOS 26.3.1 is being tested at Apple ahead of release
Earlier this month, iOS 26.3 debuted with a focus on bug fixes and security updates. It included a handful of new features also for users.
Now it looks like Apple has even more bug fixes and optimizations coming soon.
iOS 26.3.1 is running on devices that have visited it 9 to 5 Mac recently, confirming that it is in active development within Apple.
Typically, when we see evidence of a new minor iOS build in internal visitor logs, the update ships within a week or two.
For example, last month on January 12 we found evidence of the existence of iOS 26.2.1, and that sent two weeks later on January 26 with AirTag 2 support and bug fixes.
Given that we wait new products to launch next weekincluding a brand new iPhone, it’s possible we’ll see iOS 26.3.1 debut around the same time.
Just as iOS 26.2.1 added support for AirTag 2, perhaps iOS 26.3.1 will do the same for iPhone 17e. Compatibility with new devices, along with the usual bug fixes and security improvements, seems right for a minor update.
We’ll keep you posted on iOS 26.3.1 details when the update goes live.
