Yuzvendra Chahal Becomes a Fan of Medhavi Bidhuri, Copies Her Viral ‘6-7’ Celebration

Medhavi Bidhuri has become one of the biggest talking points in Indian cricket on social media over the last few days. The young Delhi cricketer’s ‘6-7’ celebration in the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026 went viral, and fans have been talking about both her cricket and her unique style.

Now, the trend has reached England. Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal recreated the Medhavi Bidhuri ‘6-7’ celebration while playing for Northamptonshire in the County Championship.

And knowing Chahal and his love for memes and social-media trends, perhaps it was only a matter of time before he joined in.

Yuzvendra Chahal Copies Medhavi Bidhuri’s ‘6-7’ Celebration

Chahal is currently playing County Championship cricket for Northamptonshire in England. During their Division Two match against Lancashire at Old Trafford, he brought out the viral gesture after dismissing Joe Moores.

Chahal bowled Moores and then celebrated with the ‘6-7’ hand gesture that has become closely associated with Bidhuri among Indian cricket fans in recent days.

It was classic Chahal. The Indian spinner has always been active around meme culture and rarely misses a chance to have some fun when a trend catches fire on social media.

But this time, the interesting part was just how quickly Bidhuri’s celebration had travelled. It started in the Women’s Delhi Premier League in Delhi and, within days, an established Indian international was recreating it in County Championship cricket in England.

Chahal also had a good game with the ball. He finished with three wickets in the match as Northamptonshire defeated Lancashire by a huge 316 runs. It was also Northamptonshire’s first win at Old Trafford since 1999.

How Medhavi Bidhuri’s ‘6-7’ Celebration Went Viral

The story started during the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026 opener between Central Delhi Queens and South Delhi Superstarz on August 20.

Bidhuri, a 20-year-old leg-spinner playing for Central Delhi Queens, dismissed Nishika Singh and immediately brought out the ‘6-7’ gesture. The celebration, along with the No. 67 on the back of her jersey, quickly caught the attention of fans on social media.

However, the viral celebration should not take attention away from her performance.

Bidhuri returned figures of 2/24 from four overs in the match. Central Delhi Queens eventually lost by 29 runs, but Bidhuri became one of the most talked-about players from the opening game.

Since then, fans on social media have even started referring to her as a new ‘national crush’, with her celebration and cricket both receiving plenty of attention.

Her Younger Sister Was Behind Jersey No. 67

There is also an interesting story behind Bidhuri wearing No. 67.

Her preferred jersey number was 12, but it was already occupied. According to Bidhuri, her younger sister suggested that she take No. 67 instead and use the trending ‘6-7’ gesture as her wicket celebration.

That simple suggestion worked better than anyone could probably have expected.

Bidhuri performed the celebration after taking a wicket, the clip spread across social media, and the No. 67 jersey became part of the whole viral moment.

She again performed the celebration on August 23 after dismissing East Delhi Riders batter Vanshika Lila.

What Does the Viral ‘6-7’ Meme Actually Mean?

For anyone trying to find some deep meaning behind ‘6-7’, there really isn’t one.

The phrase became an internet meme during 2025 and is particularly popular among younger social-media users. It is generally accompanied by a hand gesture and does not have one fixed meaning.

The trend has links to American rapper Skrilla’s song Doot Doot (6 7). It later became popular through basketball edits, particularly those featuring LaMelo Ball, whose listed height is 6 feet 7 inches.

From there, ‘6-7’ developed into a wider internet joke and meme. In other words, people mostly use it because it is part of online meme culture rather than because the numbers carry one clear message.

Bidhuri simply connected that existing trend with her No. 67 jersey — and cricket fans loved it.

Chahal Shows He Is Still Up to Date With Meme Culture

Anyone who has followed Yuzvendra Chahal over the years knows his personality. Whether it is social media, funny videos or celebrations on the field, Chahal has rarely stayed away from the lighter side of cricket.

His latest celebration was another example.

More importantly for Bidhuri, the fact that an Indian international with Chahal’s experience has recreated her celebration shows just how quickly her viral moment has travelled.

A few days ago, the Medhavi Bidhuri ‘6-7’ celebration was a fun moment from the Women’s Delhi Premier League. Now Chahal has taken it all the way to the County Championship in England.

For the moment, ‘6-7’ is not just a Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha meme. It has found its way onto the cricket field as well.

Spread the love
