But that might be wrong. In a recent group discussion, a journalist claimed that reports suggesting Dhoni is buying a stake in CSK are false.
CSK is yet to make a few massive decisions: a decision to appoint a new coach and the team-building process ahead of the IPL 2027 season. MS Dhoni is the cornerstone of the team, and despite all of the rumours, he is still with the franchise and most probably doing his job silently behind the public’s eyes.

MS Dhoni is not buying stake in Chennai Super Kings
In the latest online group discussion, arranged by Beyond the Boundary, senior journalist Dwaipayan Datta spilled the truth. Through his confident reply, he completely dismissed the reports that suggested Dhoni’s chances to buy CSK’s shares and a possible strain between the former captain and the franchise.
Datta clearly mentioned that Dhoni is still very much with the franchise and is currently actively involved in the head coach selection process. The franchise could appoint a foreign coach as the replacement for their former coach, Stephen Fleming, with someone whom Dhoni knows very well.
“He is in the process of finalizing the coach. It may well happen that he may go for a coach whom he has earlier worked with, a foreigner, something on those lines. He is in the process of dealing with that,” the Journalist said in the ongoing discussion.
“But MS Dhoni is very much a part of the team”, Dwaipayan Datta, a journalist, claims boldly in the online discussion
The journalist then further claimed that whether MS Dhoni will play in 2027 is not clear yet because of his body condition, but there is no doubt that the former captain is still very much in good terms with the Chennai Super Kings.
“And the only thing that he has not yet made clear is whether he will play or not.t Because of his body, etc. That is one point that he is not yet clear about. But he is very much a part of the team, and he is in the process of finalizing the coach. It is back to the old guard of CSK in running the show,w and he is very much there,” it is further added.
