South Korean machine tool manufacturer DN Solutions opened its first manufacturing facility in India in Bengaluru on August 26, 2026 at an investment of ₹600 crore. The facility was inaugurated by Karnataka’s Industries Minister M.B. Patil.
Located in Bengaluru’s ITIR Industrial Area, the 25-acre facility has been developed with the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). The plant, a strategic manufacturing, research and development, and service hub, is DN Solutions’ first overseas manufacturing investment since it established its Yantai facility in China in 2003, according to company officials.
The company said the entire Phase 1 investment of ₹600 crore has been deployed already. It is also considering investments of a similar scale in future phases, depending on market demand and business growth.
The new facility would bring together manufacturing, R&D, a technical centre, after-sales service, training, and supply-chain development. Production would initially focus on the SVM series of vertical machining centres and LYNX and LEO horizontal turning centres, while the company plans to consider five-axis machine production in later phases.
“This is not a relocation of manufacturing from Korea or China. It is a completely new investment designed to create production capacity in India,” senior officials of DN Solutions told media persons.
In India for over 30 years
DN Solutions has been present in India for more than three decades, beginning sales operations in 1994. It established its Bengaluru Technical Centre in 2008 and its Indian subsidiary in 2016. The company said India’s expanding manufacturing base, engineering talent, young workforce, English-speaking population, and government initiatives such as Make in India make the country a key market for its long-term growth.
Karnataka, and Bengaluru in particular, was selected for its combination of precision manufacturing capabilities, engineering talent, automation expertise, and supply-chain infrastructure, it said.
The company plans to use the Bengaluru plant to build a more localised manufacturing ecosystem rather than moving existing suppliers from Korea or China to India.

Speaking at the inaugural, Wonjong Kim, CEO of DN Solutions said, “India clearly has the potential to become a global manufacturing powerhouse. Its large and expanding domestic market, English-speaking workforce, outstanding engineering talent, and young demographic profile are the foundations of its long-term competency. “
Kim also linked the company’s Bengaluru investment to the emergence of AI-enabled physical systems. “As AI expands beyond digital screens into the physical world, machines become indispensable. At the centre of that transformation phase are machine tools, serving as a core platform for Physical AI,” he explained.
Mr. Kim further said, “Bengaluru has a strong software ecosystem, which uniquely positions it to lead manufacturing in the Physical AI era. That is why we chose this City.”
Localisation at the centre of supply-chain strategy
The company plans to use the Bengaluru plant to build a more localised manufacturing ecosystem rather than moving existing suppliers from Korea or China to India. DN Solutions said it has already achieved around 80% localisation by parts count and aims to source most components domestically over the next five years, with spindle assemblies currently excluded from this target.
The company has already localised large-part machining, key machined components, and shaft-related parts in India. It is also working with local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on technical collaboration and capability development, with a formal supplier development programme planned for 2027.
“Our goal is to build a truly local manufacturing ecosystem that creates significant value within the country,” Kim added.
Focus on talent development
The Bengaluru facility is also expected to expand employment and skills development in India. DN Solutions currently employs 240 people directly in the country and plans to increase its direct workforce to 500. The broader employment impact across suppliers, logistics companies, and service providers is estimated to be at least twice the direct workforce.
Over the past year, the company has recruited around 100 recent graduates and operates a training centre and a one-year talent development programme. The company plans to work with customers, MSMEs, and educational institutions to develop application engineers, technicians, and machining specialists.
“Beginning with direct employment of 500 people, we intend to contribute to the development of a much larger talent pipeline through workforce training for customers and MSMEs, as well as partnerships with local educational institutions, “ Mr. Kim said.
DN Solutions ranks No. 1 in South Korea and No. 3 globally by revenue among machine tool manufacturers, according to the company. It has more than 140 sales networks, over 260 service networks, and 37 parts centres across 66 countries. The company has more than 450 machine models and says it has installed over 300,000 machines worldwide. Its portfolio also includes automation and digital manufacturing solutions.
