Dewald Brevis produced a breathtaking batting display as South Africa chased down Zimbabwe’s 144/8 with plenty to spare in the second match of the Namibia T20 Tri-Series 2026 at the Namibia Cricket Ground. Brevis smashed 75 off just 32 deliveries to earn Player of the Match honours and steer South Africa to 146/3 in only 13.4 overs.
Zimbabwe had opted to bat after winning the toss, but despite useful contributions throughout their batting order, they struggled to build enough momentum for a challenging total. South Africa’s bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals before Brevis took the game away during the chase.
South Africa restict Zimbabwe at 144/8
Zimbabwe made a steady start, with Brian Bennett and Ben Curran putting together useful contributions. Bennett scored 34 from 35 balls, hitting four fours and a six, while Curran provided the early aggression with 24 off only 12 deliveries, including four fours and a six.
Dion Myers added 17 from 17 balls, but Zimbabwe lost momentum in the middle overs. Sikandar Raza managed only 10 from 17 deliveries, while Ryan Burl made four and Wesley Madhevere contributed 12 from 14. The South African attack continued to apply pressure, restricting Zimbabwe’s scoring opportunities.
Tadiwanashe Marumani gave Zimbabwe a late boost with a superb 30 off 13 balls. His innings featured a four and three sixes and helped push the total towards the 140-mark. Brad Evans chipped in with four from two balls, while Newman Nyamhuri scored two and Blessing Muzarabani was dismissed without scoring.
Duan Jansen was South Africa’s most successful bowler, claiming three wickets in his four overs, although he conceded 45 runs. Prenelan Subrayen picked up two wickets for 27 runs, while Eathan Bosch impressed with economical figures of 1/20. Kwena Maphaka and Bjorn Fortuin also took a wicket apiece as Zimbabwe finished on 144/8 from their 20 overs.

South Africa’s reply began positively as Lhuan dre Pretorius and Jordan Hermann both struck 22 and 20 respectively. Pretorius hit four boundaries from 13 balls, while Hermann also collected four fours during his 13-ball stay.
Once Brevis arrived, however, the complexion of the chase changed dramatically. The right-hander attacked the Zimbabwean bowlers with remarkable freedom, smashing seven fours and six sixes in an explosive 75 from just 32 balls. His innings provided the decisive difference between the two sides and ensured South Africa remained comfortably ahead of the required rate.
Tony de Zorzi added 15 from 17 balls, including a six, before Rubin Hermann finished unbeaten on 11 from seven deliveries with two fours. South Africa reached 146/3 in 13.4 overs to complete a commanding seven-wicket victory. Muzarabani took one wicket for 30 runs in three overs, while Nyamhuri and Evans also claimed a wicket each. Evans was the most economical of the wicket-takers, finishing with 1/19 from 2.4 overs.
With 75 runs from 32 balls, Brevis was the clear standout performer and deservedly walked away with the Player of the Match award.
