Mohammad Kaif Critiques India’s Use of Jasprit Bumrah After 76-Run Loss vs South Africa

Date:

The former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that India lost its first Super 8 match against South Africa during the T20 World Cup match which took place between the 7th and 15th over. The Indian team missed using their star bowler Jasprit Bumrah during that time because he needed to stop David Miller and Dewald Brevis from building their partnership which shifted the match towards South Africa. Kaif explained that Rohit Sharma who formerly captained India never deployed Bumrah in that manner because Hitman would return to bowl Bumrah after power-play to secure important wickets during middle overs. The match result determined that India lost the game during The 7th to The 15th period which concluded the match. You used Bumrah for two early overs while saving his two remaining overs for the final part of the game. But Rohit Sharma never used Bumrah like this,” Kaif said on his YouTube channel. He bowled one over in the middle to break a partnership. He requires two separate time intervals between his bowling periods. The most effective player in this team who can determine match outcomes is Bumrah. The team needs to use him for one powerplay over and then schedule him to bowl during the 11th or 12th over.

Bumrah bowled two overs in the power-play, which resulted in him taking the crucial wickets of Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton. The Indian bowlers except for Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh faced severe bowling attacks from the South African batters.

Bumrah returned to the bowling attack during the 17th over of the innings. At that moment, the Proteas had established complete match dominance with a score of 152-5. Tristan Stubbs was batting at that time.

South Africa ended India’s 12-match unbeaten streak at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup when they defeated the defending champions by 76 runs in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

India achieved their second-largest T20 International defeat through this match because they lost by 75 runs. India’s largest T20 World Cup defeat occurred during this match.

The 76-run defeat against South Africa has created challenges for India to reach the semi-finals. The Men in Blue must achieve victories in their two remaining matches while maintaining a positive net run rate to protect their chances of winning the T20 World Cup title.
