In a historic setting, Afghanistan will be hosting India in India in a three-match T20I series, as the Afghanistan Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India have jointly agreed for the mouthwatering assignment between two of the biggest teams in world cricket. The series will get underway on Sunday, September 13, for the first T20I of the series.

The entire series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, with the Afghan side getting the opportunity to host the three-time T20 World Cup-winning team at the historic venue. The series will conclude with the third and final T20I to be played on September 17.

Both sides have named power-packed squads for taking part in the three-match tour. The hosts will be led by Ibrahim Zadran, as the opening batter has been appointed as the new leader of the side in the shortest format of the game. Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, will be captaining India in India for the first time since his appointment as their full-time T20I captain.
The series will also feature youngsters like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Noor Ahmad, who form an interesting matchup throughout the series. With Naveen-ul-Haq also making a return to the side, the Afghans certainly have a bolstered unit, while the Indians have also welcomed the return of Jasprit Bumrah and three other all-rounders, but their inclusion in the squad is subject to a CoE fitness clearance.
