Jamaica Kingsmen booked their place in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 final after defeating Guyana Amazon Warriors by five wickets in Qualifier 2 in Bridgetown. While Rovman Powell and Keacy Carty played key roles during the chase, Hassan Khan made his mark early in the contest with a superb piece of fielding.
The Kingsmen needed to chase down 207 after Shimron Hetmyer produced a sensational unbeaten century for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Hassan’s direct hit helped them make an early breakthrough and put the league leaders under pressure in the opening overs.
Hassan Khan produces direct hit to dismiss Mohammad Haris
Guyana Amazon Warriors lost both their openers inside the first five overs, but it was Hassan’s piece of fielding that provided the first breakthrough of the innings. On the second ball of the second over, a full delivery on the leg-stump line struck Mohammad Haris on the front pad before the ball rolled towards mid-on. The batters immediately set off for a quick single, but Hassan reacted sharply and threw the ball towards the bowler’s end.
His throw hit the stumps with Haris short of his crease. There was initially only a soft appeal from the Kingsmen fielders, who did not appear to realise just how close the run-out was until the replay appeared on the big screen. As soon as the replay confirmed the dismissal, the Kingsmen players rushed towards Hassan to celebrate his excellent effort.

Shimron Hetmyer’s century keeps Guyana in the contest
Hassan’s direct hit was followed by another wicket as Mavendra Dindyal was dismissed by the same bowler, leaving Guyana Amazon Warriors in early trouble. However, Hetmyer then took control of the innings. He added 96 runs with Shai Hope for the third wicket, scoring 55 of those runs himself, before putting together another 65-run partnership with Quentin Sampson.
Hetmyer eventually completed his century from the final ball of the innings, slicing Andre Russell over short third for four. His unbeaten 102 off 45 balls included a dominant display of power and gave Guyana a formidable 206 for 4.

Rovman Powell leads Kingsmen into maiden CPL final
Jamaica Kingsmen responded with an aggressive start as Maaz Sadaqat and Kirk McKenzie added 42 runs in just three overs. Keacy Carty then continued the momentum, scoring 56 off 40 balls and building important partnerships throughout the chase. The decisive contribution came from captain Powell, who walked in with Kingsmen still needing 55 runs from 29 balls.
He changed the game by attacking Khary Pierre and later Shamar Joseph, finishing unbeaten on 40 off just 17 deliveries. Kingsmen reached 207 for 5 with two balls remaining to complete a five-wicket victory. The result sent the franchise into the CPL final in their debut season, where they will face Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on Sunday.
