Former Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader G. Jagadish Reddy observed that the farming community facing shortage of water for irrigation under projects having required storage and erratic power supply to their agricultural pump-sets to wet the standing crops in crucial stages of growth would not take the bait of diversion tactics of the government and forgive it.
During a visit to Suryapet district on Monday, he visited the affected farm fields at Noorjahanpet and Gudeputkunta Thanda in Penpahad mandal. On Sunday, he visited withered crops in Telakantigudem of Kanagal mandal in Nalgonda district.
Speaking after visiting the withered crops in Suryapet district and going through the power supply log book at Chidella substation, Mr. Jagadish Reddy said denying farmers an assured production of Kharif crops with erratic power supply and non-release of available water to the ayacut would go to the credit of the Congress government.
He reiterated the demand for switching on the motors of Kannepally pumphouse to give Kaleshwaram project water to the ayacut till Suryapet with the available water level in the river without closing the gates of Medigadda Barrage.
