India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana added another remarkable milestone to her international career during the Women’s Asian Games 2026 final against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. The left-handed opener became the first woman cricketer to complete 11,000 international runs across formats, reaching the landmark during India’s gold medal clash at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
Mandhana entered the final needing 13 runs to reach the historic figure. With India choosing to bat first, the opener wasted little time in completing the milestone and continued her excellent run of form with another impactful innings.
Smriti Mandhana accomplishes major milestone
Mandhana started the final with 10,987 international runs to her name across Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Her tally before the match consisted of 788 Test runs, 5,411 ODI runs and 4,788 runs in T20Is. She required only 13 runs to reach 11,000 and achieved the feat early in her innings. A boundary followed by a six helped Mandhana cross the landmark and become the first woman batter to reach 11,000 international runs.
The achievement adds another significant chapter to a career that has already seen Mandhana establish herself among the most prolific batters in women’s international cricket. Her latest record also comes shortly after she moved past former India captain Mithali Raj to become the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket across formats. Mandhana surpassed Raj’s career tally of 10,868 runs during the Women’s Asia Cup earlier this month.

Mandhana’s form has been a major feature of India’s recent international campaign. During the Women’s Asia Cup, she struck 124 against Hong Kong, an innings that played an important role in her move beyond Mithal’s overall international run tally. She then added another record during India’s Asian Games semifinal against Bangladesh. Mandhana overtook New Zealand’s Suzie Bates to become the highest run-scorer in women’s T20I cricket, further underlining her consistency in the shortest format.
The Asian Games final provided another opportunity for Mandhana to contribute on a major occasion, and she delivered once again. After reaching the 11,000-run landmark, she went on to produce a commanding innings for India.

India finished their 20 overs on 216/3, with Mandhana playing a central role in the team’s imposing total. The opener scored 79 from just 45 deliveries, striking five fours and seven sixes during an aggressive innings. She received valuable support from Shafali Verma, who contributed 48, while Richa Ghosh remained unbeaten on 49. The combined efforts of India’s top-order batters allowed the team to post a substantial score in the gold medal contest. In response, Sri Lanka collapsed at just 69 runs, losing the contest by 147 runs.
For Mandhana, however, the final will be remembered for more than India’s strong batting display. Her 11,000-run milestone places her in a unique position in women’s international cricket and extends a remarkable sequence of records achieved during India’s recent campaign.
