SafeStay AP App launched to make accommodation safer, strengthen emergency response

Citizens in Andhra Pradesh can now use a digital platform to discover verified accommodation, view property details and availability, make bookings and seek SOS assistance during emergencies, following the launch of the SafeStay AP app.

Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta and Guntur district Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal launched the platform on Tuesday (September 22, 2026).

Mr. Jindal told The Hindu that SafeStay AP brought citizens, accommodation providers and the police ecosystem onto a common digital platform to improve information visibility and verification and support faster safety-related response.

Through the SafeStay AP mobile application, guests can search for verified hotels, paying guest (PG) accommodations, hostels and other registered accommodations based on their location and requirements. They can manage bookings and stays, maintain a digital profile and complete the applicable verification process.

The platform also provides an application for property owners and managers to digitally register properties, add details of rooms and beds, maintain availability, manage bookings and update guest-related information. This is intended to reduce dependence on fragmented or manual information handling.

For police operations, an authorised interface provides centralised access to relevant accommodation and safety information. It supports property verification, safety alerts, SOS notifications, maps, analytics and operational visibility, subject to role-based access and departmental authorisation.

The ecosystem connects accommodation discovery, verification and booking with safety response through a controlled digital workflow. Its core infrastructure includes secure backend services, authentication, digital document and KYC workflows, notifications, mapping, analytics and SOS facilities.

The initiative seeks to create a more transparent and digitally connected accommodation ecosystem, enabling citizens to make informed choices, accommodation providers to manage operations digitally and authorised police personnel to access relevant information when required for safety and response.

The app is designed to provide law enforcement with real-time, instantaneous access to information on guests and live occupancy details across all hotels and paying guest (PG) accommodations throughout the state.

Aimed at technology-driven policing, the platform is meant to streamline crime prevention, speed up criminal investigations and improve public safety through digital connectivity between accommodations and the police department.
