Indian wushu player Naorem Roshibina Devi secured her second consecutive Asian Games silver medal after losing the women’s sanda 60kg final 0-2 to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu at Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday.Zhang dominated the title clash, winning both rounds 5-0 to take the gold medal.Asian Games Full Coverage | Schedule | Medal TallyRoshibina has now become the first Indian woman to win three consecutive medals in wushu at the Asian Games. She won bronze in 2018 before claiming silver in 2022 and 2026.The Indian, who had also won silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, once again fell short against Chinese opposition in the final. She had lost the Hangzhou final to China’s Xiaowei Wu.Roshibina enjoyed an impressive campaign in Japan, with her run including a victory over Vietnam’s 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy. She had booked her place in the final after defeating Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 in the semi-final on Wednesday.Roshibina’s silver is India’s 14th medal at the ongoing Asian Games, taking the tally to one gold, six silver and seven bronze medals.Earlier on Thursday, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won bronze in the men’s double sculls final.The Indian pair clocked 6:13.25 to finish third, 3.48 seconds behind China’s gold medallists Yi Xudi and Nie Yide and 2.76 seconds behind silver medallists Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin.Satnam and Salman held second position at the 500m, 1000m and 1500m marks but dropped away towards the finish. They were at one stage just half a second behind the Chinese pair.In the men’s singles sculls, Balraj Panwar finished fourth after missing out on a medal.Balraj remained second at the 500m, 1000m and 1500m marks before being overtaken by Uzbekistan’s Shakhboz Kholmurzaev and Japan’s Tatsuya Sakurama in the final 500m.He had a five-second advantage over Sakurama heading into the final stretch but eventually finished eight seconds behind the Japanese rower. Balraj clocked 6:54.80, finishing 15 seconds behind gold medallist Zhiwei Deng of China.
