Former India batter Wasim Jaffer believes Rohit’s experience could be extremely valuable to the Indian team if he decides to continue playing until the 2027 World Cup.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Jaffer highlighted the importance of having experienced players involved in India’s plans for the tournament. He also referred to earlier selection decisions involving Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami while making his point.
“In Rohit’s case, if he is playing, he will have eyes on the 2027 World Cup, and you need that experience. I said this again in Surya’s case as well. You removed him right after the World Cup. These things could have been handled better. Even Shami’s case. He still has to prove himself. This is saddening,” Jaffer said.
ODI battle against West Indies is crucial for Rohit
Rohit is now set to return to international cricket in India’s upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies. The first ODI will be played in Kerala on Sunday, September 27, followed by the second match in Guwahati on September 30. The series will conclude in New Chandigarh on October 3.
