Hardik Pandya’s IPL 2027 trade saga takes new turn as franchise shows fresh interest

Another twist is expected in the ongoing Hardik Pandya saga. Ahead of the IPL 2027 season, Pandya’s future with the Mumbai Indians (MI) is in balance. Multiple reports previously claimed that to secure the services of the pace bowling all-rounder, multiple franchises were in talks with the 5-time IPL winners.

However, none of the deals are confirmed yet. In the meantime, as all of the possible interest from the franchises is likely to dilute, Cricbuzz on October 5 made a massive claim.

Fresh interest for Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL 2027: Report

According to Cricbuzz’s claim, which was shared on the social media platform ‘X’, in the next three to four weeks, there could be a significant update on Hardik Pandya’s future in the franchise league as one franchise has reportedly shown fresh interest in the Mumbai Indians captain.

“Cricbuzz learns that at least one franchise has made fresh inquiries with MI about the all-rounder, and something may come about over the next three to four weeks,” the ‘X’ post reads.

Previously published reports across media outlets claimed that the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were among the franchises that showed their interest in Pandya.

How is a trade deal possible in IPL between two franchises?

Because of the stature of the players, a deal with the Mumbai Indians will not a very easy task for any of the franchises. The franchise that shows fresh interest in the pace bowling all-rounder, arguably the best all-rounder in India, may have to pay a heavy price if the conversation goes long ahead in the future.

As there are some difficulties in pulling off the heavyweight trade deal, media reports claimed that after the talks with the Mumbai Indians, most of the franchises pulled themselves back before securing a deal.

An all-cash deal is possible, but that will disrupt the budget of the team that wanted to take Hardik Pandya on board. To save some cash, there is only one option left: a swap-plus-cash deal. Which means, to secure Pandya in the team, a franchise can think of transferring one of their players from the present set of players to the Mumbai Indians, and some money as well. Needless to say, MI will try to utilise the most from the deal.

‘Renewed Interest’ for Hardik Pandya

In place of Pandya, the franchise will definitely like to get another star cricketer. It was also widely reported that because of Mumbai’s demand, franchises like KKR and DC took backward steps instead of taking their conversations to the final stage.

Now, Cricbuzz in the post also mentioned ‘Renewed Interest’ on the photo of Hardik Pandya, which makes the situation more interesting than before.
