'Tarique hasn't ruled out India visit': Dhaka
Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman

DHAKA: PM Tarique Rahman has “not ruled out” a visit to India through a proper bilateral framework, Dhaka said Monday, stressing New Delhi must prevent individuals based in India from using its territory to make political statements or engage in activities aimed at destabilising Bangladesh.“Restraining an extremist in their land is not too much to ask,” state minister for foreign affairs Humaiun Kobir said, a reference to a past news conference of former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh would not allow anyone from India to use Bangladeshi territory to make statements against India, he told reporters.“To maintain relations with another country, bilateral engagement is required. We will do it directly. The (PM’s) visit will be bilateral, and we will talk,” he said. “We must address the challenge of trust. Without trust, partnerships weaken,” Kobir said.
