Virat Kohli ₹5 Crore Premanand Maharaj Claim

Virat Kohli has been accused of receiving ₹5 crore to make his first visit to Premanand Ji Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan. The serious allegation has been made by Dinesh Sharma Falahari, president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas. However, there is currently no independently verified evidence that Kohli actually received such a payment.

What is the ₹5 crore allegation against Virat Kohli?

According to reports, Dinesh Sharma Falahari has alleged that people linked to a builder or land-mafia group spent ₹5 crore to bring Kohli to Premanand Maharaj’s ashram. He claimed that the purpose was to increase the spiritual leader’s popularity and that the group later sought to benefit from that influence.

Falahari has also raised several other serious allegations concerning people operating around the ashram and has sought an investigation. He has written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while raising concerns over Premanand Maharaj’s security and seeking Z+ security for him.

The important point, however, is that the ₹5 crore claim remains an allegation. No publicly verified bank transaction, contract, invoice or statement from Kohli or his representatives has emerged to establish that he was paid ₹5 crore for visiting Premanand Maharaj.

Kohli and Anushka have visited Premanand Maharaj repeatedly

While the alleged payment is unverified, Kohli’s association with Premanand Maharaj is well documented.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were seen with their daughter Vamika at Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan in January 2023. Videos from the visit showed the couple listening to the spiritual leader with folded hands.

That did not remain a one-off visit.

The couple subsequently returned to meet Premanand Maharaj on multiple occasions. In May 2025, Kohli and Anushka again visited him just one day after Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket.

Their visits continued after that as well. Kohli and Anushka were documented visiting the ashram again in 2026, showing that their association with Premanand Maharaj has continued over several years.

Does the ₹5 Crore Allegation Make Sense?

The ₹5 crore allegation becomes difficult to reconcile with the way Virat Kohli has repeatedly visited Premanand Maharaj over the years.

According to widely circulated media estimates, Kohli’s commercial value is enormous, with some reports previously suggesting that a single sponsored Instagram post involving him could be worth around ₹10–15 crore. With Kohli’s stature, major brands can potentially spend several crores for his time and association. In that context, it is difficult to believe that a man whose time carries such extraordinary commercial value would repeatedly dedicate one or two days to travelling, arranging security and visiting an ashram merely for ₹5 crore.

And this has not been just one visit.

Kohli has returned to Premanand Maharaj again and again, often accompanied by Anushka Sharma. That repeated connection gives a completely different impression. It looks much more like devotion, respect and a genuine search for peace than a commercial appearance.

For someone of Kohli’s stature, time itself is incredibly valuable. If earning money were the purpose, there are far easier commercial opportunities available to a global sporting superstar. Yet he has repeatedly chosen to spend that time travelling to Vrindavan, sitting before Premanand Maharaj with folded hands and listening to him.

That is why, looking at the circumstances, Kohli’s visits appear to be driven by something much more personal than money — faith, devotion and respect for Premanand Maharaj.

Money can buy an appearance, but repeated devotion over several years tells a different story.

The ₹5 crore allegation made by Dinesh Sharma Falahari remains an allegation and has not been independently established. But Kohli’s repeated visits are there for everyone to see. From the outside, they appear to reflect a man returning to a place where he finds faith, peace and spiritual comfort.
