The statement then addressed the reason behind Kohli’s meetings with Premanand Maharaj, saying:
“Virat visits Premanand Maharaj Ji purely out of his deep faith and reverence for him.”
Kohli’s spokesperson also requested media organisations to exercise due diligence and verify facts before reporting or amplifying such allegations.
The clarification therefore leaves little ambiguity about Kohli’s position. His team has denied any financial motive behind the visits and maintained that they are driven by his personal faith and respect for Premanand Maharaj.

The ₹5 crore allegation has also raised questions because of Kohli’s enormous commercial value.
According to various media and industry reports, Virat Kohli reportedly commands around ₹10–15 crore for a single sponsored Instagram post, although these are third-party estimates rather than an officially confirmed fee.
A cricketer with Kohli’s commercial value can reportedly earn significantly more through a single promotional post. In comparison, travelling for a spiritual visit involves considerably more time and logistical effort, including travel and security arrangements.
That context is one reason many fans have found the ₹5 crore allegation difficult to accept.
