IND vs WI [WATCH]: Mayank Yadav’s 144.5 kph thunderbolt cleans up Shimron Hetmyer in 2nd T20I

India and West Indies produced a high-scoring contest in the second T20I at Ranchi, with the visitors eventually registering their highest successful run chase in the format to level the five-match series. Although India posted a formidable total of 249/5, the hosts found themselves under pressure as the Caribbean batters launched a remarkable counterattack. Among the standout moments of India’s bowling effort was Mayank Yadav‘s display of express pace, particularly his dismissal of Shimron Hetmyer with a delivery clocked at 144.5 kph.

Mayank Yadav removes Shimron Hetmyer with a lethal delivery

Mayank made an immediate impact during the West Indies’ chase, producing a fiery opening over that put the visitors on the back foot. The young fast bowler demonstrated his ability to generate serious pace and trouble batters with sharp movement off the pitch.

The defining moment came on the fourth delivery of the opening over when Mayank bowled to left-handed batter Hetmyer. Bowling a short-of-a-length delivery at approximately 144.5 kph, the Indian pacer generated sharp inward movement that left the batter struggling to respond.

Hetmyer attempted to bring his bat down to defend the delivery but could not make a clean connection. The ball took the inside edge and crashed into the top of the middle stump, sending the West Indies batter back to the pavilion without scoring.

Sanju Samson’s explosive knock powers India to big total

Before Mayank’s fiery spell, India had put together a commanding batting performance after being sent in to bat. The hosts finished their allotted 20 overs at 249/5, establishing a challenging target of 250 for the visitors. Sanju Samson led India’s charge with an attacking innings of 82 off just 41 deliveries. His aggressive approach provided the innings with substantial momentum and helped India build a total that appeared capable of putting the West Indies under considerable pressure.

Tilak Varma also made a valuable contribution, scoring 44, while Shreyas Iyer added 40 to strengthen India’s position. Their efforts ensured that the hosts maintained a strong scoring rate throughout the innings. For the West Indies, Roston Chase delivered an effective bowling performance, finishing with figures of 3/24. Despite his efforts to restrict India’s scoring, the visitors still faced a demanding chase.

Mayank then gave India an encouraging start with the ball, helping reduce the West Indies to 5/2 before the visitors reached 58/3. His eventual figures of 3/36 reflected his contribution to India’s early breakthroughs.
