Ravindra Jadeja shared a lighthearted message for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) fans on social media. He posted a training picture wearing a yellow jersey and pink batting pads, playfully acknowledging both franchises days after jokingly asking the BCCI about its vacant men’s selector position.
Jadeja last played for India in the recent 2-1 ODI series win over the West Indies. The left-arm spinner took two wickets across the first two matches and did not feature in the third ODI. With the New Zealand Test series approaching, he is set to return to domestic red-ball cricket for Saurashtra.

Ahead of the 2026 IPL season, the Royals acquired Jadeja and England all-rounder Sam Curran, while CSK secured wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson. As part of the deal, Jadeja’s league fee was revised from ₹18 crore to ₹14 crore, while Samson retained his ₹18 crore value.
Jadeja began his IPL career with RR and won the inaugural title in 2008 under Shane Warne before spending 12 seasons with CSK.
What The Procedure? – Ravindra Jadeja Questions BCCI Selector Vacancy
Ravindra Jadeja recently caught attention on X after the BCCI invited applications for a vacant position on the men’s selection committee following the completion of Ajit Agarkar’s tenure. The all-rounder responded to the announcement with a humorous question.

However, Jadeja cannot apply for the position under the eligibility rules. Candidates must have retired from all forms of cricket for at least five years. Although Jadeja retired from T20 internationals after the 2024 T20 World Cup, he remains active in Tests, ODIs and the IPL.
Ranji Trophy Return Ahead of New Zealand Tour
Ravindra Jadeja is set to represent Saurashtra in their Ranji Trophy opener against Chhattisgarh from October 11 to 14 at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Jaydev Unadkat will lead the side. Unadkat famously captained Saurashtra to the Ranji Trophy title in the 2019-20 season.
The Ranji Trophy fixture will give Jadeja valuable red-ball practice, as he has not played a first-class fixture since August. He is expected to be available for more than one match for Saurashtra during the upcoming Ranji Trophy campaign.
His performances could help him prepare for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand, which begins on November 19 in Wellington. The second Test is scheduled to start on November 27.
Axar Patel is expected to return for India’s white-ball tour of New Zealand, potentially affecting Jadeja’s place in the ODI side. However, Jadeja remains a key part of India’s Test setup and will look to use the domestic fixtures to sharpen his match fitness ahead of the overseas series.
