iPhone Duo turns documents into a book with clever two-page view

Apple’s iPhone Duo could make reading documents a little more natural when unfolded, with a new finding suggesting Quick Look can display two pages side by side.

Code explorer pdfu spotted what appears to be a two-page layout option in Quick Look, designed for when the foldable is opened into its book-like orientation. A video shared on X shows an Apple Style Guide document stretched across both halves of the display, with consecutive pages appearing next to each other much like a physical book.

It’s a small detail, but one that makes good use of the Duo’s wider unfolded screen. Rather than simply enlarging a single document page, the layout gives you two pages at once, making it easier to see more of a document without constantly scrolling or moving between pages.

The Quick Look interface also appears to keep its controls out of the way. In the demonstration, search, markup and share controls sit along the right-hand side while the document occupies the main viewing area.

This isn’t the first time Apple has shown how its software will adapt to the Duo’s unusual screen shape. Apple has already detailed iOS 27 features designed around the foldable, including angle-aware layouts and side-by-side multitasking, so Quick Look’s two-page view looks like another example of the company making use of the extra display space rather than treating the Duo like a regular iPhone with a bigger screen.

The finding is particularly relevant for anyone who expects to use the Duo for more than watching videos or running two apps at once. A wider unfolded display could make documents, PDFs and other files feel closer to their desktop or tablet counterparts, while still letting the device fold down into a more compact form.

There isn’t much more to the feature yet, and Apple hasn’t publicly detailed this particular Quick Look layout.

The iPhone Duo is already approaching launch, though. Pre-orders open on Friday, October 16, with availability beginning Friday, October 23. That means we shouldn’t have to wait too long to see how Apple’s foldable handles documents and other everyday tasks in practice.
