Preparations are in full swing at Talacauvery, the birthplace of Cauvery River, for the annual Cauvery ‘Theerthodbhava’, scheduled to take place at 7.50 p.m. on Saturday.

Thousands of devotees from Kodagu and other parts of the State, as well as neighbouring States, are expected to converge on the site to witness the emergence of the holy water.

The district administration has made arrangements to ensure the smooth movement and convenience of devotees. These include drinking water, barricades to regulate queues, lighting along the Bhagamandala–Talacauvery stretch, floral decorations, toilets and vehicle parking facilities.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate 25 buses, as it did last year, providing free transport for devotees. The Kodagu Ekikarana Ranga will distribute prasada, while a separate stage has been set up for a devotional singing programme dedicated to Goddess Cauvery. The programme will be organised by the Departments of Kannada and Culture, the Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy and the Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruthi and Sahitya Academy.

The police have put in place security arrangements involving police officers, personnel and home guards. CCTV cameras have also been installed at required locations.

Chief Minister’s political secretary and Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna visited Talacauvery on Friday and inaugurated the newly constructed Bhandara Mane building near the temple. The building was constructed at a cost of around ₹1 crore with a grant provided by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).

Reviewing the preparations, Mr. Ponnanna said all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure that devotees could participate in the event without inconvenience. He added that the Muzrai Department had ordered the release of ₹75 lakh for the arrangements.

Deputy Commissioner S.J. Somashekar and Superintendent of Police R.N. Bindumani also inspected the arrangements on Friday.

Meanwhile, the gold ornaments used to adorn Goddess Cauvery were taken in a procession from the Bhagandeshwara Temple at Bhagamandala to Talacauvery on Friday. The deity will be adorned with the gold ornaments for a month as part of the annual festivities.
