MacBook Neo emerges as the name for the low-cost model powered by the iPhone chip – 9to5Mac

Date:

Apple is expected to introduce an all-new, low-cost MacBook as soon as tomorrow, and MacBook Neo may be the official name of the product.

MacBook Neo would be an entirely new name for an entirely new laptop

MacRumors first reported that a regulatory filing referring to an unreleased “MacBook Neo (Model A3404)” was accidentally leaked by Apple. The document appears to be no longer online.

The name would suggest that the first MacBook powered by an iPhone chip is something lighter than the MacBook Air. Apple has used the name “MacBook” before, but the MacBook Neo would signal something entirely new.

(Incidentally, Apple has already released a new product called “Neo”. this week. The new Hermès Néo Tricot Apple Watch set arrived on Monday. It costs $349, which is probably about half the cost of the expected MacBook Neo.)

When will Apple introduce the MacBook Neo?

Apple is set to hold an in-person media “experience” tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET. 9to5Mac will be in attendance. That’s likely when Apple will unveil the rumored A18 Pro-powered MacBook Neo.

So far this weekApple has announced new products at 9 a.m. ET on Monday and Tuesday. These include iPhone 17e, M4 iPad Air, M5 MacBook Air, M5 Pro/Max chips, M5 Pro/Max MacBook Pro, The new Apple Studio screenAND Studio XDR screen.
