India defeated England by seven wickets at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to secure a T20 World Cup 2026 final fight against New Zealand. Jacob Bethell’s century (48-ball 105) went in vain as some pinpoint death overs bowling from Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. England needed 45 runs from the final three overs but Bumrah and Pandya’s overs meant England needed 30 runs off the final over.
Earlier, a 42-ball 89 from Sanju Samson, a 25-ball 43 from Shivam Dube and an 18-ball 39 from Ishan Kishan helped India score 253/7. India were batting first after Harry Brook won the toss and asked the Men in Blue to have a go with the bat. India and England are locking horns in a third successive ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today. The winner will meet New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Heading into the contest, England have put on a compelling show in the Super 8s in Sri Lanka, with captain Harry Brook coming to the fore with a sensational century against Pakistan. But Suryakumar Yadav’s men will also exude confidence from securing their berth with a superb chase against the West Indies at the Eden Gardens, pitting two teams of equal strengths in Mumbai on Thursday.
