Date:

The Indian Premier League 2026 may also be affected by the war in West Asia, which involves Israel, Iran, and the United States. Because of the war, LPG and petroleum supply got a severe hit. The shortage of LPG can have an effect on the upcoming IPL season as well.

Arun Dhumal, the governing council chairman of IPL, said that they are tracking all the developments related to the war and gas supply process. If the LPG supply sustained more blows, then the fixtures for the IPL 2026 can be pushed back to avoid unnecessary situations.

With the war between the USA, Israel, and Iran showing no signs of ending anytime soon, the supply of petroleum and LPG products has taken a severe hit. Hotel owner associations in both Bengaluru and Chennai have already stated that they have LPG supply only for a day or two, Hindustan Times reported.

“We are reviewing the development. Since this is an evolving situation, nothing can be said as of now. But given the requirement of the situation, we will take a call accordingly,” Dhumal told The New Indian Express.

The Ministry of Petroleum issued a statement on the recent situation of the LPG supply

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas informed that the ministry has prioritised domestic LPG supply to households and introduced 25 day inter- booking period to avoid hoarding/black marketing. Non-domestic supplies from imported LPG are being prioritised to essential non-domestic sectors such as Hospitals and Educational institutions.

For LPG supply to other non-domestic sectors, a committee of three EDs of OMCs has been constituted to review the representations for LPG supply to restaurants/hotels/other industries, the ministry informed through an official statement, which reflects the seriousness of the situation.

The BCCI secretary informed of the date of the upcoming IPL fixture announcement

BCCI is yet to announce the full fixtures of the IPL 2026, which will be announced after assessing the LGP supply system and the upcoming elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. The board may not announce the entire fixture list soon. As per reports, BCCI will publish the dates for IPL 2026 matches in two separate announcements.

“We plan to announce the IPL 2026 schedule by March 12. For now, we are going to announce the IPL 2026 schedule for the first 20 days”, BCCI Devajit Saikia told news agency IANS on March 10.

According to the current situation, BCCI and the IPL managing committee are paying attention to two major factors: LPG supply and the state elections. The IPL fixtures will be announced when the officials find a safe way to avoid these two major challenges. More than the election dates, it is the war that is keeping the officials in tension.
