The latest iPhone 18 Pro rumors offer new details, but also doubts about a change
The iPhone 18 Pro is only about six months away, and the latest rumors bring some clarity, but also fresh ambiguity, to Apple’s alleged plans for the device.
From a design point of view, we have expected it some changes:
- Thicker frame for a bigger battery
- Dynamic Island which is about 35% smaller
- New colors and a unified look on the back
Today, two prominent Weibo leakers have offered new clues about what’s to come.

He says the iPhone 18 Pro Max will be 8.8mm thick.
For context, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is 8.75mm thick and the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.25mm. So the increase this year is much smaller than it was with the iPhone 17.
Separately, Digital Chat Station posted that Apple is considering reusing some of the molds from the iPhone 17 Pro for the iPhone 18 Pro line.
He says that if this happens, it means that the Face ID components that were expected to move under the display may remain unchanged. As a result, the Dynamic Island may not shrink as significantly as expected.
Digital Chat Station also highlights three improvements that it believes have been confirmed. He says that the A20 Pro’s 2nm process chip, a larger battery with a capacity of over 5000 mAh and changes to the camera aperture will be the strong selling point for the device.
